7 things' I hate about my boss' daughter (and still counting)

1. Her Cockney slang. Somebody should remind her that this is Malaysia and she does not need to talk as if she's eating her tongue and she does not need to say "flaaatt" instead of "flat". I know her elder brother who spent his childhood schooling in Australia and England but I always wonder why her brother speaks better malay than her when she's the one who spent all her life schooling in Malaysia.

2. Of being 22 and has the power to order people around her. Ok, so she's the boss's daughter and she follows the boss around to meeting and she was even named as one of the shareholders in one of my boss' company. For example I really don't appreciate being sms-ed on Friday night and being "ordered" to come to the office on Saturday morning just because the printer guy is coming on Saturday when I have been waiting for him to come since the Saturday before. And oh, it's not the printer's guy fault at all, the thing is my boss and her daughter keep changing the layout of the packaging box that they keep postponing the printer guy. By the way, I didn't come on Saturday morning and ironically the printer guy fell sick on that day so he couldn't come too.

3. Her obsession with pink.I admit I like pink too but her obsession with pink colour is driving me crazy. Her pink Roxy keychain attached to her phone, her many many pink shoes (there's this pink maryjanes, and pink roxy selipar jepun and pink high heels. I've never seen her with shoes in other colours but pink), and of course pink blouse and her friendster name also ends with something pinky. Pink panther, no?

4. Sitting behind me all the time when I was amending all those kotak designs. She's not just sitting quietly and request that I do this and that, she's also keep saying things like I know that I should be doing and planned to be doing that I feel like throwing my socks at her face. Sounds evil, but for example I have accidentally move one of the box somewhere it's not suppose to be and she was like "arghh!" screaming when actually she can keep her mouth shut and I can just click ctrl+z so everything will be just fine and dandy. There's also cases when I am amending something when she keep "intan, you select dulu, then only you edit" when I already know that I am suppose to do that. Maybe I was on pms or something, but really, this little things are driving me over the edge.

5. Asking the printer guy's opinion on the packaging design. She's so desperate to avoid the typical kampung herbal box design that she has to ask for his opinion. Oh, it might sound innocent asking other people's opinions, but when asking other people's opinion caused me to redesign evertyhing all over again, that is something that makes me pissed. So, maybe I am sucks at design, but my boss and this daughter of hers has been praising the design and keep saying "ha cantik la tu" before this printer guy comes and suddenly when the printer guy comes and they asked the printer guy's opinion and this printer guy boldly said "I see nothing special with this box" suddenly this mother-daughter team keep having their doubts again for the umpteenth time and so there's colours to be changed, fonts to be replaced with new ones and so forth. Duh.

6. Her fickle mindedness leaves me groaning with my cheek on the table. I am still talking about this packaging box here and you see, she goes around asking other people's opinions on the box (not only the printer guy) and she'll keep asking me to amended the box according to each and every people's opinions which to my not so humble opinions if she keep doing that she'll never finish this box until the end of the world. Of course it's important to get other people's feedback when you are doing this kind of thing, but still if you are trying to incorporate each and every single thing that other people like on one box that is quite impossible. I wonder if they have marketing strategy at all or they even know their target market. Oh my, how could they?

7. As a designer I admit that last minute changes is inescapable. But when it is done so frequently I get so mad especially when you have plan for the evening and suddenly at 5.45 (that is after office hours)she comes and asked me to modify this and that because she needs it urgently. (urgent:because she needs to send it to printing and on the next day i found out that her mother, who happens to be my boss halt the printer guy to starts printing. by the way the printing just start this week which is way weeks after that incident)

By the way, I read something in Malay mail last week about good boss and rotten boss. Believe it or not most people don't hate their jobs because they aren't paid enough, they hate their jobs because of rotten bosses. I think that is partially true and I hope someday when I become a boss (ye ke?haha) I don't fall into this category. Harap-haraplah.
